It Takes Time

Last week I was at an after hours networking event and I told someone I was a chiropractor.

They told me that they had tried chiropractic care in the past and it didn’t help them.

I was shocked to learn this because in my experience - chiropractic care provides fantastic results.

I asked if they could walk me through their chiropractic care experience and it went something like this…

They saw the chiropractor and had one adjustment and was told to come back later that week or next week and they didn’t go back for the second visit because they were still in pain.

I asked how long their symptoms were going on for before they sought out care.

They told me they had suffered with neck pain for at least 5 years from a work-related injury.

I asked if they had ever played sports as a kid.

They were a little taken back by the change in subject but answered that they ran cross country in high school.

I asked if they ever had practice for their meets.

He kind of scoffed and said of course they did - they needed the routine practice to build their endurance so they could run faster and longer.

So I mentioned that you needed time and repetition to get better?

Which he agreed was the reason for practice.

So I said - don’t you think after 5 years of having severe neck pain that your chiropractor would need more than one visit to correct what was going on? Don’t you think that takes time and would be better with some degree of frequency and repetition?

He was quiet for a moment and then asked if he could schedule an assessment with me.

Sometimes it just takes a different perspective to realize how healing is a process just like sickness and disease is a process.

Are you taking daily action steps towards being healthier every day - or the opposite of that?
